Mosaic Community Development Center (MCDC) is a community-based nonprofit serving youth and families in Jeannette, PA. The organization was created in response to a growing need for consistent support, safe spaces, and meaningful opportunities for children and families in the community.

MCDC’s work extends beyond a single program, focusing on creating a network of support that helps young people grow academically, socially, and personally while strengthening connections across the community. Through a combination of youth programming, family engagement, and community-based initiatives, MCDC works to address both immediate needs and long-term outcomes for children and families.

At the center of this work is year-round Out-of-School-Time (OST) programming for students in grades K–8. During the school year and summer months, students participate in structured programming that includes academic support, enrichment activities, and opportunities to build relationships with trusted adults. This programming provides consistency and stability during critical out-of-school hours.

MCDC also invests in broader community engagement. The organization hosts family events, service initiatives such as a Give Back Week, and seasonal programming that brings families and community members together. These efforts help strengthen relationships, increase community involvement, and create opportunities for youth to contribute to their neighborhoods.

In addition, MCDC integrates hands-on and experiential learning opportunities. The student garden program teaches sustainability, nutrition, and environmental stewardship while also contributing to long-term plans for a community farm stand aimed at increasing access to fresh food in a designated food desert.

MCDC works closely with local partners, schools, and community organizations to ensure programming remains responsive and relevant. These partnerships expand opportunities for students and allow MCDC to connect families with additional resources when needed.

As the only year-round out-of-school-time provider in the City of Jeannette, MCDC plays a critical role in supporting youth during out-of-school hours while also serving as a trusted resource for families. Through its combination of consistent programming, community engagement, and strong partnerships, MCDC is working to create a more supportive and connected environment where young people can grow and succeed.
