  • Summer Blast

This past summer, we had the incredible opportunity to host a dynamic program for students in grades 4 through 8. A total of 35 students participated in the eight-week program, enjoying 20 hours per week of learning, fun, and meals. Thanks to the generous support of our donors, students were able to experience 16 exciting field trips, including:

Acrisure Stadium, Sacred Gate Farm, Pirate’s Game, Pleasant Valley Rescue Ranch/Hope Remanes, Steel City ParkourPhipp’s Botanical Gardens, Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh, National Aviary, Pickleball/ Rock Climbing at Community Methodist Church (Harrison City), Round Hill Park, Three Pool Days, Powdermill Nature Reserve, Peinetti’s Bakery

When not on field trips, students engaged in electives, STEM activities, and an Entrepreneurship Academy. During the academy, students developed product ideas, pitched their concepts, and sold their creations at Schramm’s Market. A standout STEM activity was the Egg Drop Challenge, where students named their eggs, designed protective structures, and watched as the Jeannette Fire Department dropped them from the top of a fire truck ladder!

We’re already looking forward to next year’s Summer Blast Program!

  • Student Gardens

In collaboration with the Department of Environmental Protection, Westmoreland Community Action, the Community Foundation of Westmoreland County, and the Westmoreland Conservation District (WCD), students and community members helped establish our student gardens this past spring and summer. Through OST, students built and filled raised beds and planted produce. The local brewery donates grain scraps for the worm bin. The fresh produce is being distributed to families in need and will eventually contribute to our Farm-to-Table Cafe. The MCDC Student Garden project provides students an opportunity to take pride in their community, creating beauty in their city while addressing food disparities.

  • Ultimate Goal Soccer

In 2012, Mosaic launched a soccer camp focused on relationship building and character development of Jeannette youth. This program has grown into an annual soccer camp held at Jeannette Soccer club that services 60-80 campers each summer.

  • Community Service

Our hearts beat for the people of our community. Because of this, we make the most of every opportunity we can to serve and give back. We have cleaned up playgrounds, picked up trash, helped local businesses with needs & more!

  • The Christmas Store

In 2017, Mosaic launched a community Christmas store for under-resourced families in Jeannette. Parents were offered a chance to shop for their children for a suggested $1 donation per gift.

In 2017, 47 children from 20 families were served with a total of 188 presents given.

This year, 195 children from 70 families were served with a total of 585 gifts given. In addition, over 75 jackets were distributed, thanks to the generosity of Ebara Elliott Energy. Over 70 volunteers served at the store!
